The Story Behind The Greenwich Collection
The Greenwich Collection began with a series of experiments on my handloom in my studio in Greenwich. At the time, I was exploring how colour, yarn and woven structure could work together to create textiles that felt both expressive and deeply tactile. Sample by sample, the original pattern gradually emerged, and with it the foundations of what would become my debut collection: a limited-edition range of throws and cushions, created with sustainability at the heart of every decision.
During this period, I found myself returning again and again to the work of Sonia Delaunay. Her bold use of colour and abstract geometric compositions felt endlessly energising. Standing in front of her paintings, I was struck by the way colour could create movement, evoke emotion, and radiate joy. That sense of vitality became a guiding force throughout my design process. I wanted each piece in the collection to celebrate the emotional power of colour and to bring warmth, happiness, and a sense of optimism into the home.
The designs were also shaped by memories of my travels and my love of visiting exhibitions, where unexpected combinations of colour and form often spark new ideas. Coastal landscapes have been a particular source of inspiration: the rhythmic patterns left by waves on the sand, the sculptural lines of seaside architecture, and the constantly shifting play of light across water and stone. I became fascinated by the way these elements could be translated through woven structure, allowing colour and texture to work together in subtle and surprising ways.
For this debut collection, sustainability was an essential consideration from the outset. I wanted to create pieces that were both beautiful and enduring, using natural fibres and working with skilled British manufacturers who share a commitment to quality and responsible production.
The throws and cushions are woven from the finest merino lambswool and Donegal wool, chosen for their softness, warmth and depth of character. Their rich textures enhance the complexity of the woven designs while offering a luxurious feel.
To bring the collection to life, I worked with The Bristol Weaving Mill, where my original handwoven samples were translated into industrial production. Seeing the designs move from the handloom to the mill was an exciting and rewarding stage of the process, preserving the integrity of the original textiles while making them suitable for contemporary interiors.
The Greenwich Collection is a celebration of colour, craftsmanship and the enduring possibilities of woven design. Each throw and cushion carries the story of its development — from the first experiments at the loom to the landscapes, artworks and experiences that inspired it. Primarily, it is designed to bring warmth, comfort and happiness into everyday life.
